Jesus is our Advocate with the Father. The word advocate comes from Latin roots meaning a "voice for" or "one who pleads for another." Other related terms are used in scripture, such as mediator. From the Book of Mormon we learn that this responsibility to mediate, or make intercession, was foreseen before His birth: Jesus "shall make intercession for all the children of men; and they that believe in him shall be saved" (2 Nephi 2:9)
